Our focus.
Our focus is on working
with senior management to either improve their use of information systems and
technology, or in the case of information technology companies, to better
understand the benefits and risks of particular technology or architecture
options, and the associated product strategies.
We do that by reviewing
what you need in terms of your business, what you have today, and working with
you to put in place whatever changes are needed.
Whilst our approach
involves a number of standard techniques and tools, it is driven first and
foremost by what you, and your business really needs; and can afford.
Although we have worked
internationally, these days our main focus is in New Zealand.
Our people.
Brent Sutherland is our
Principal Consulting Director. He has been consulting for over 17 years, after 18 years in
operational, financial and information technology roles in a major corporate.
He is supported by
Graeme Emerson as a Consulting Director. Graeme has been involved in consulting for 35 years, was the partner
responsible for setting up the local government consulting group within the
Ernst & Whinney practice, was Information Technology Consulting Director for
Ernst & Whinney, and directed the local government consulting group within
Ernst & Young.
We currently employ no
staff, but rather contract in appropriate resources as needed to meet client needs.
Thus, we are often able to tailor the skills needed by a client more closely than if we
had to just use the staff we had available. In any case, we agree with our clients what
skills are needed, and who should do the work, as part of our normal assignment management
activities.
And, what's a "gofer"?
A gofer is someone who does things, who makes things happen. That is why, when we set
up a business to take some of the gofering away from hardworking business
managers, we
called it Gofer Services.
Then, we found we were getting more involved in helping those people change they way
they worked and to better or more appropriately use technology: to stop gofering away themselves in their business so they could concentrate on
developing and growing the business.
Hence our slogan - don't be a gofer in your own business - we can change that
- we can help you make technology the gofer in your business.
