Why use external resources?
This, of course, is the fundamental question we are often
asked when discussing potential work with a client.
The answer is usually clear: don't use external resources
if you have the skills, experience and time available in-house.
The questions an organisation needs to ask itself when
deciding this question are:
-
Do we have staff who have the skills to do this work?
-
Do we have a methodology or proven approach to the work?
-
Have the staff done this type of work before?
-
Do the staff have experience across a sufficient range of business
types to bring some fresh insights to our problems?
-
Do the staff have the time to do the work, and/or who will do
their regular work?
-
If staff will be used part-time on the work (while they continue
to meet other obligations) will the expected time to complete the work be
acceptable?
If you can answer "yes" to all these questions,
then you should do it in-house. Otherwise, you need us!
